I wasn’t ALWAYS overweight or addicted to food. Of course, I didn’t REALIZE this until I was much older, and had actually become overweight (about 60lbs) in college. I recently looked at photos of myself at that young age- nope, NOT FAT! What was I thinking? How did I possibly think and feel that I was SO FAT, I asked myself…Because of society, television, judgemental teenage girls and my constant comparison to them…Because I had no idea what SELF WORTH was and I certainly was never taught how to find it within me...
But as I was nearing the end of high school, my family’s dysfunction got worse, and I started to develop a very strong connection with food for comfort. It was my safety, my friend that didn’t yell at me, didn’t judge or criticize me. It was always "there for me", and as long as I was eating, all my stress was put on hold. I didn’t have to solve problems, or deal with emotions. This “solution” to stress continued into college. I proceeded to continue stuffing my stress and by this point I had become addicted to sugar/processed foods. I exercised all the time, but that didn't stop the weight gain.
Fast forward 14 years. I've since lost most of the weight through exercise and cutting down on processed foods.
I’m now a full time personal trainer and run my own business. Not to brag, but I’m very good at what I do and my clients LOVE working with me. Probably because I'm so passionate about exercise and healthy eating. But for some reason FOOD still seemed to have CONTROL over me.

I also had to get over my VICTIM mindset around getting Chron’s Disease at 32 and blaming all that was wrong in my life on it, and using it as an excuse for some of my habits.
